Afghanistan: At least 250 dead after a powerful earthquake

The magnitude 6.1 earthquake that struck densely populated areas of Afghanistan and Pakistan early Wednesday morning has killed at least 130 people in eastern Afghanistan, according to authorities. The BBC reports at least 250 deaths.
The toll is heavy in the Afghan province of Paktika, bordering Pakistan, where the current death toll stands at at least 200 and 150 injured, according to the first figures of this disaster reported by the BBC.
A local government official also told the BBC that the death toll was likely to rise and that more than 150 other people had been injured .
