Litige frontalier Guinée-Libéria: “La guerre ne saurait profiter à personne”

“War benefits no one, and that is the only conclusion,” said the Liberian president after a high-level meeting in Conakry.
Following a whirlwind visit to Conakry, where he met with Guinean and Sierra Leonean authorities to discuss the border crisis between Guinea and Liberia, Liberian President Joseph Boakai told reporters in Monrovia that he and the Guinean authorities share a consensus: “As peoples, we are united by bonds of brotherhood and friendship, sharing common goals. War benefits no one, and that is the only conclusion.”
The meeting in the Guinean capital took place amid growing concern following a recent confrontation near the Liberian-Guinean border in the Sorlumba area of Foya district, Lofa county. Local authorities and residents reported escalating tensions after Guinean soldiers allegedly entered territory claimed by Liberia near the border town of Sorlumba. Gunfire was reportedly heard during the confrontation, and a Liberian civilian was shot in the thigh. (AlloAfricaNews)
